Clayborne Carson

Clayborne Carson is an American historian, professor at Stanford University and director of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers Project, which he has led since 1985, when Coretta Scott King chose him to edit and publish her late husband's papers. Under his direction the project has produced a definitive edition of King's speeches, sermons, correspondence and unpublished writings. Drawing on that archive, Carson assembled 'The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr.' (1998) from King's own essays, notes, letters and sermons.
