Johan Cruyff

Johan Cruyff was one of the most influential Dutch professional soccer players and managers in history. He won the Ballon d'Or three times, in 1971, 1973, and 1974, and was awarded the Golden Ball at the 1974 FIFA World Cup. A leading proponent of Total Football, the philosophy developed by Rinus Michels, Cruyff claimed major titles with Ajax and FC Barcelona as both a player and manager. In 1997, he founded the Johan Cruyff Foundation to support disadvantaged children and those with special educational needs.
