Louann Brizendine

Louann Brizendine is an American neuropsychiatrist, researcher, and professor holding the Lynne and Marc Benioff-endowed chair of psychiatry at UCSF. She earned a BA in neurobiology from UC Berkeley, an MD from Yale School of Medicine, and completed her psychiatry residency at Harvard Medical School. In 1994, she founded the UCSF Women's Mood and Hormone Clinic, where she remains director. She is the author of The Female Brain (2006), The Male Brain (2010), and The Upgrade (2022).
