Sam Walton

Samuel Moore Walton was the founder of the world's largest retail chain, Wal-Mart, and another among the largest, Sam's Club. He is the patriarch of the Walton Family, the richest family in the world. As a student, he was elected the most versatile boy and became student body president. He graduated in economics in 1940. His partner and brother, Hugo Menor (nicknamed Bud), graduated from the military academy. The Waltons' first experience was as trainees at a store in Oklahoma known as DuPont. Sam had simple habits, always washed his own plate after meals, and his philosophy for Wal-Mart was: there are no low prices in the store without low costs in the company. Therefore, every cent must be saved.
