Norman Vincent Peale (May 31, 1898, Bowersville, Ohio, United States — December 24, 1993, Pawling, New York, United States) was an American pastor and writer of theories on positive thinking. Peale was politically and personally very close to President Richard Nixon's family. In 1968, he officiated the wedding of Julie Nixon and David Eisenhower. He continued to be constantly called to the White House during the Watergate crisis, stating that "Christ does not abandon people in trouble."
